Countdowns and Blast Offs

Our 2nd Muay Thai/Jiu-Jitsu Fight night exhibition approaches! Friends and family come on down this Saturday, November 22 @2PM as we cheer on and celebrate the competitive spirit. The gym air is heavy with sweat, determination, and maybe hints of Thai oil. Our members have been training vigorously both physically and mentally to showcase their skills and understanding of the Muay Thai craft. Please join us for the festivities we have planned out including food, drinks, DJ, raffle, and of course a high-energy showcase! It really hits home when I see someone new genuinely interested, curious, and always putting in 120% dedication to learning the art. As with any other subject friends talk about amongst themselves, bonding between Muay Thai is more special because you actually feel what everyone goes through. Your first time getting swept, taking knees to the chest, blocking a cross with your face, the list goes on and it’s funny because after doing what others may seem as violent, after it’s all over you and your buddies go out for ice cream. “Fight together, eat together, level up together” is a mantra our team lives by and we’d like to share that idea with everyone.

Here’s some advice I’d like to pass on to all of our competitors that we have lined up. If this is your first exhibition, as nerve-racking as it may feel, just have fun. All of the anxiety, rises in confidence, plummeting self-doubt, fear, nervousness, adrenaline rush, every single emotion on that roller coaster is normal; you’re supposed to feel that. How you deal with them at that moment come fight time will be the lump sum of what you did in the past, your reaction and ownership to the present, and how you will grow from it after. I don’t know if I can pack any more cheese into this paragraph but the main point I want to drive home is that having the heart to embark on that unique journey, from starting line to next checkpoint, will course you through light years of an incredible discovery of self. That’s where you will find your strength, value, and personality, through our art. Saturday can’t come soon enough.
